David Lyons is the author of Emlen Tunnell: The Charismatic Life of a WWII Hero and NFL Legend. A graduate of the University of California, Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in English, he also earned a master’s degree in education from Cambridge College. Lyons became a National Board–Certified Teacher in 2005 and has devoted more than twenty-five years to education. Inspired by his father who grew up with Emlen Tunnell and shared stories of their friendship. Lyons set out to write this definitive biography of one of football’s most remarkable and overlooked pioneers.
